We still have plenty of CSA shares available for 2020 — in the event that we sell out, I’ll post something here and on the sign up form. In the meantime, go ahead and commit to eating fresh, organic, locally-grown food this summer!

The greenhouse is filling up with vegetable starts, the winter rye planted in the fields last fall is greening up, and garlic is peeking up out of the soil. Like always, spring is full of promise.

Springy scenes

We still have plenty of snow, but it is melting! Shelly and I saw a pair of swans on our walk yesterday; I think they mistook a nearby hayfield for a lake. It’s that time of year.

Farming continues on pretty much like normal despite the pandemic, other than thinking ahead on the subject of veggie deliveries and farmers markets, and what, if any, changes might need to be made to our systems. I’ve undergone training previously on Good Agricultural Practices and the Food Service Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, and I will keep myself informed on the latest recommendations for farmers and consumers. Rest assured, we will do our best here at Stone’s Throw Farm to keep your food supply safe.

In the meantime, I certainly sympathize with my customers and other community members who are out of work, and those who must keep going to work despite the risks. Take good care of yourselves!

2020-03-16 (2)Stone’s Throw Farm will be participating in the CSA Guild’s Virtual Open House this Sunday, March 22, from 2-5 pm. I’ll be logged in to quickly answer any questions you might have about our farm and our CSA shares via email, Messenger, text, or phone call. Head on over to our Facebook event page for more information about the virtual open house, mark your calendar, and please share.

Of course, you don’t have to wait for the open house; you’re welcome to ask me questions anytime!

EarlyBirdArtReady2Early birds save $15 at Stone’s Throw Farm! Just sign up for a veggie CSA share and send full payment by March 15, 2020.

Now is the time when farmers need operating money to buy seeds and supplies for the season, so our discount is a small “thank you” to those who can pay extra-early. Also, I’d rather by processing payments in March than in June.

Of course, you’re also welcome to make an initial payment now to reserve your share, and send the remainder by June 1, 2020. Either way, please sign up  and eat well this summer!

Information about Stone’s Throw Farm’s 2020 CSA shares is coming soon.

In the meantime, here’s a look back at our share boxes from last season. Our 2019 CSA members should each give themselves a pat on the back for eating all these veggies!

Happy New Year!

Hoping the whole year is as beautiful as this first sunrise.

Summer into fall….

Remember when this farmer was good at posting photos regularly? Well … I have good intentions, anyway!
