Elden and I put up a used hoophouse frame at Stone’s Throw Farm today. It’s smaller than our main hoophouse, and I’m thinking we’ll use this one mostly for starting plants (i.e., to house pots and trays). Because it’s smaller, it’ll be easier to heat at night, and without all the pots and trays cluttering up the big hoophouse, it’ll be much easier to get that house ready for the tomato plants we’ll plant inside. We did put the little hoophouse in the field in case we want to plant something in the ground in there after most of the veggie starts are transplanted.
It’s almost winter, so think spring

As you think spring, just wanted to let you know that the Moskvich tomato plants Elden brought us were delightful. The tomatoes never got real big — I don’t prune the vines like most people around here — but the plants were very productive.
The big roma plant was huge, and also very productive. Can’t think of the name of it, but think I’ve had it before years ago.
I had some sort of little roma shaped grape-sized tomato that self-sowed all over the yard. I didn’t even have tomatoes last year, so these had to be from two years ago. Like most grape-like tomatoes, they didn’t have much flavor. don’t think I’ll ever have to buy more of the things, but do need to think of something to do with all of the fruit.
