When it’s hot, the piggies sleep in one of their huts all day. Sometimes they lie with their noses under the back of the hut for a little fresh air. Pigs would never pee or poop in their sleeping area if they could possibly help it. The floor is clean, cool soil.
Pigs can’t sweat, so they like to wallow in water or mud to cool off. I don’t want to make a big watering hole for them in the field because I’m going to use it as our garden next year. But I’ve taken to hosing down our piggies a couple of times a day on hot days. They come over to the edge of their pen and I set the hose nozzle on “shower” and sprinkle them for a while. They seem to like it for a few minutes, and it creates some mud for them to flop in if they feel like it. After their showers, they feel peppy enough to eat and drink for a while, and then they go back to their hut to rest. It’s a good life, I’d say.
