My parents, Craig and Jean Conover, arrived in Wrenshall on Tuesday at 11:00 for a visit, and they’ve barely stopped to eat and sleep since. In the last few days, we cleared a bunch of trees in the area where our septic mound will be located, transplanted some strawberry and raspberry plants (sorry, farm members — not enough for the shares, but you’re welcome to snag a few when you visit the farm!), worked in some grass seed along the driveway, plowed a furrow to try to help with drainage of our west fields, rototilled the ground in the hoophouse and raked out some of the stubborn sod clumps, potted on our first set of tomato plants, and set t-posts and heavy wood corner posts for deer fence around 1 acre.
I finally put my foot down yesterday and said we were quitting at 5:00 pm so we might actually have some time to relax in the evening instead of simply trying to wolf down our dinner before passing out.
Boot camp continues today — wish me luck!
