This little pumpkin has been sitting on our dryer since October. It was dark green when I rescued it from the field and brought it to Catherine’s Home for Orphaned Vegetables, intending to display it once it had attained a nice orange color, which happened around the end of October. I never did bring it upstairs, however, and it’s been sitting here this whole time next to the little jack-o-lantern bucket that holds our clothespins (though it is rather unsuited for the task, being full of holes in all the wrong places–no drainage but plenty of places for clothespins to fall through).
Sadly, the real pumpkin is starting to get soft and is going to have to go. I’m amazed by its longevity, and since I never displayed it in my home, I thought I’d give it a nice send-off right here.
